Strengthening Governance Through an Induction Training For the 5th Council of Busitema University

The 5th Council of Busitema University participated in an induction training session facilitated by the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU). The meeting was presided over by Professor Wiliam Bazeeyo, the Chairperson of the University Council. It saw the active participation of top management led by Professor Paul Waako alongside other members of the University Council.

The training session was conducted by Mr. Joseph Matovu and Mr. Dison, both of whom are esteemed consultants from ICGU. They covered a range of critical topics essential for effective governance within the University. Among the subjects discussed were the principles of Corporate Governance, the key traits of Ethics and Integrity and the specific roles, functions, duties and responsibilities of university council members.

Additionally, the facilitators addressed important aspects of council dynamics including strategies for managing conflicts of interest. They also provided valuable guidance on the effective chairing of meetings and the preparation of comprehensive reports. This induction training aimed to equip council members with the necessary skills and knowledge to fulfill their responsibilities effectively thus fostering a culture of good governance at Busitema University.
