Background
Busitema University in partnership with the Institute for National transformation (INT) and the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat in the Office of the President (STI – OP) of the Republic of Uganda, are implementing the Youth Empowerment in Agri-entrepreneurship Programme (YEAP)-300 project for three years (2024-2026) through the Busitema University AgroEntrepreneurship Centre (BUAEC). The project is funded by the Office of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda.

In order to ensure sustainable development and implementation of the model, the University wishes to build capacity of enthusiastic individuals at Masters (2) and PhD (1) levels. The University therefore invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to pursue Masters and PhD studies under the YEAP-300 project. The project will meet the costs of tuition, stipend and research during the active period of the fellowship. Successful candidates will also be mentored in other University activities like teaching and other project activities.

Proposed study topics
PhD: Evaluate the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the YEAP project MSc

1. Evaluate the economic return on investment (ROI) of the YEAP system on the effected families, for the purposes of improvement and potential escalation in the future MSc
2. Evaluate the social return on investment (SROI) of the YEAP project on the affected families, for the purposes of improvement and potential escalation in the future

NB: These topics will be developed further in consultation with University supervisors to meet both project goals and the requirements for the academic programme of the University.

Eligibility

1. Applicants for the scholarships must be Ugandan citizens.
2. They should be fully registered for relevant postgraduate program at Busitema University.
3. Should be on normal progress and preferably through with course work.
4. Effort will be made to ensure gender inclusivity among beneficiaries.

1. Detailed curriculum vitae
2. Copies of previous degree certificates and transcripts
3. A motivation letter
4. Letters from two academic referees
5. PhD applicants should attach a research concept on the study topic
