Busitema University Participates in the Point of care Ultrasound for Emmergency Physicians Training

A consortium of Institutions that include: Mbale Clinical Research Institute (MCRI), Busitema University (BU), Mbale Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) and University of Wisconsin (UW), USA, held the first training course on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) for Emergency Physicians in Eastern Uganda. These includes MMed Students. While officiating in the Opening Ceremony for the training, Professor Peter Olupot-Olupot emphasised the fact that emergency physicians need to embrace technology to aide their clinical work and POCUS is one of these. He added that the consortium was working to to have a formal training curriculum for POCUS so that it fits into the formal regulation of the fast growing discipline. He added that credentialing of practical POCUS events was going to happen for each trainee and that at least 100 completed POCUS reports would be credentialed per trainee. He thanked the instructors who came from UW to work with a team of colleagues who had been researching on POCUS for the last 5 years in Mbale, Eastern Uganda.
