Busitema University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CURAHEAL Bio Company Ltd. of South Korea, opening a new chapter of collaboration in research, innovation, product development, technology transfer and commercialisation.

The agreement was signed on 8 September 2026 in Seoul, South Korea, and brings together the University and the Korean bio-health and wellness company around shared interests in natural products, therapeutics and health innovation.

CURAHEAL Bio Company Ltd. has interests in Multi-Sun Care Solutions and the development of natural extracts and therapeutics for health and wellness. The partnership creates opportunities for Busitema University to collaborate in natural products research, product development and validation, technology transfer, capacity building, commercialisation, and academic and scientific exchange.

Busitema University was represented by Dr. Kenedy Kiyimba, a pharmacologist and lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the Faculty of Health Sciences, who witnessed the signing on behalf of Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Waako. CURAHEAL Bio Company Ltd. was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Hanmin Nam, while Mr. Allan Muhumuza of the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat in the Office of the President attended as leader of the Uganda delegation and also witnessed the signing.

The MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening cooperation between Uganda and the Republic of Korea, while creating a platform for international engagement to translate into practical partnerships in research, innovation and commercialisation.

The engagement was facilitated and supported by the Government of Uganda through the Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat in the Office of the President, whose work continues to advance the country’s science, technology, innovation and commercialisation agenda. Busitema University also provided the institutional support and commitment that enabled the partnership to take shape.

The focus now turns to transforming the agreement into concrete joint projects, technology partnerships, product development initiatives, capacity-building opportunities and commercially viable health and wellness innovations.
