Alumni of Busitema University at the Frontline Frontier of the ISS Discovery
In a groundbreaking achievement for Busitema University and Uganda as a whole, two distinguished alumni, Rosemary Nalwanga and Gerald Kisangala were selected to represent the country in a collaborative international project based in Cairo-Egypt at the Egyptian Space Agency. The project, centered on the Remote Sensing Payload Design, it is a joint effort involving Uganda, Kenya, and Egypt, with the ultimate goal of installing a cutting-edge compact camera on the International Space Station (ISS) Bartolomeo Platform.
Supervised by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs in partnership with Bartolomeo Airbus, the initiative marks a significant stride in Uganda's presence in space exploration. Rosemary, a brilliant expert in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, brings her expertise to the forefront, contributing to the development of advanced algorithms that will enhance the capabilities of the onboard camera.
Gerald, specializing in Embedded Hardware and Software Engineering, plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless design, integration and operation of the technology within the challenging environment of space. His innovative solutions contribute to the success of the project, showcasing the depth of skills fostered at Busitema University.
