Busitema University Hosts Workshop on UV Technology for Sustainable Water Treatment

Busitema University in collaboration with the International Ultra-violet Association (IUVA), successfully hosted a comprehensive workshop on Ultra Violet (UV) training for water treatment technologies. The workshop, themed "Harnessing the Power of Ultra-violet Radiation: Innovations for a Sustainable Safe Water Future," aimed to address the pressing issue of access to safe water, particularly in Africa. The event was officially opened by Professor Paul Waako, Vice Chancellor of Busitema University. The workshop provided a platform for experts to engage in thought-provoking discussions on strategies for providing safe water to communities highlighting the devastating impact of contaminated water on human health and the environment.

Africa's vulnerability to climate change was emphasized, with a focus on the need to mitigate disasters and promote sustainable livelihoods. The workshop acknowledged that access to safe water is a significant challenge exacerbated by climate change and sought to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to address these issues.

Through interactive sessions and hands-on training, participants gained insight into UV technology and its applications in water treatment. The workshop ultimately aimed to contribute to the development of innovative solutions for ensuring sustainable access to safe water, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
