Associate Professor James Peter Egonyu Appointed Acting Dean at the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences

University Top Management at its Special sitting held on Thursday, January 4th, 2024, agreed to appoint Associate Professor James Peter Egonyu as the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences. Prof. Egonyu; a distinguished academic and seasoned professional in the field of Agriculture, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Having previously served as a member of the Department of Agriculture in the Faculty of Science and Education, he later transferred to the Department of Crop Sciences within the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences. With a background that includes a BSc in Agriculture and an MSc in Crop Science from Makerere University, as well as a PhD in Agricultural Entomology from the University of Nairobi, Dr. Egonyu's expertise is expected to contribute significantly to the faculty's continued growth and success.

Dr. James Peter Egonyu's impressive career spans various prestigious institutions, including his role as a Research Scientist at the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) in Nairobi, Kenya, from 2019 to 2023. He also served as a Lecturer at Makerere University, Uganda, and held positions at the National Coffee Research Institute and Uganda’s Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries. With his extensive background and notable achievements, Dr. Egonyu is well-poised to lead the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences for the period he is appointed.
