Busitema University Top Management Retreat Focuses on Academic Progress
The top management of Busitema University recently had a retreat at the National Fisheries Resources Research Institute (NaFIRRI), an event that was organized by the office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Professor Saphina Biira, in conjunction with the Directorate of Quality Assurance. The primary objective was to review the academic progress across various faculties and ensure alignment with the University’s vision, mission and goals.
The retreat was presided over by Dr. Eryenyu Charles, Director of the Directorate of Quality Assurance. In his opening remarks, Professor Paul Waako introduced the chief guest, Professor Wasswa Balunywa a renowned expert in Leadership and management. Prof Balunywa provided the team with valuable insights into leadership skills and various management strategies, including embracing change, risks mitigation, effective communication, customer care and financial management. Drawing on his extensive experience in education, leadership and management, Professor Balunywa facilitated a discussion that engaged the participants in fruitful deliberations on ensuring the university’s continuity in striving for excellence.
The meeting proceeded with reports from different departmental and faculty heads, who discussed the progress within their faculties and identified the support needed to maintain the University’s pursuit of excellence. A consensus emerged on the importance of holding such retreats periodically to provide a platform for addressing critical academic issues and devising solutions.
The retreat concluded with a summary of the key discussion, reaffirming the university’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in education.
