BUSITEMA UNIVERSITY SWEARS IN THE 16TH GUILD GOVERNMENT

Busitema University marked a significant milestone with the swearing-in ceremony of its 16th Guild Government on Friday, April 4th, 2025 with the Vice Chancellor, Professor Paul Waako as the Guest of Honour. The event held at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology hall, brought together guild representatives from all university campuses, top management, staff and student leaders. During his remarks, Prof. Paul emphasized the importance of dialogue in problem-solving and maintaining the university's growing image. He encouraged student leaders to advocate for dialogue and prioritize academic excellence.
The ceremony highlighted several key moments, including the swearing-in of the new Busitema University Guild leadership, comprising Mr. Kotake William as Guild President, Ms. Kaguba Justine as Vice Guild President, and Ms. Kansiime Isabella as Speaker. The University’s Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mr. Otim Joshua, praised the university administration and ICT department for their support in implementing the e-voting system, which had been employed in the voting with minor technical issues.
The outgoing Guild President, Mr. Kwemboi Mevin, offered words of wisdom to the new leadership, emphasizing the importance of engaging with former rivals and staying focused on academic goals while reminding them that Power is temporary. Further still, the Dean of students, Ms. Acon Sophie, also provided leadership advice, urging the new leaders to remain open to ideas and lead with humility, noting that humility opens doors. These sentiments set a positive tone for the new Guild Government's tenure.
