15th Guild Executive Sworn in this afternoon

The 15th Guild Executive was sworn in this afternoon  at Busitema University . Mr. Odero Peter, the Chairperson electoral commission, expressed gratitude to the parents who attended the swearing-in ceremony of their sons and daughters. He proposed amendments to the guild constitution under the guidance of the legal officer to enact changes in this new term.

During the event, the outgoing president, Mr. Owera Emmanuel, acknowledged the support of council members during his tenure. He highlighted challenges faced, including issues with the guild canteen, high DSTV subscription costs, and limited funds. Despite these obstacles, he achieved notable milestones such as providing laptops to students with disabilities and organizing HIV/AIDS sensitization campaigns across various campuses.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Paul Waako thanked parents for their presence at the swearing-in ceremony. Drawing from his own experience as a former student leader, he emphasized the importance of dialogue over confrontation with university management. Prof. Waako underscored the significance of teamwork in leadership and urged student leaders to prioritize the university's stability.

He also mentioned ongoing reforms in the curriculum and a shift towards student-centered learning. Additionally, he advised the incoming president to address pressing issues like securing the university premises. Prof. Wako discouraged the involvement of political parties within the university.

The Vice Chancellor was accompanied by some Top Management Members including; The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics Affairs & Research) Associate Professor Saphina Biira, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Finance and Adminstration)- Associate Professor Pakoyo Kamba, The University Secretary Mr. Abert Matsiko Mutungwire and the Dean of Students - Ms Sophia Acon
